Sonya King

Sonya King is from Selma, Alabama and grew up in San Diego, California just one block away from the beach. Combine those two worlds with a healthy dose of dry humor, and what you get…is funny. Encouraged by a supportive family, Sonya entered a comedy contest and that's all it took—she was hooked, and in 1999 began working her way through comedy clubs around the country. She's enjoyed many years doing voiceover work, has been a writer for Dick Broadcasting, Inc., and currently does a weekly radio segment. She was a winner of the Carnival Cruise Competition, has been seen on Good Morning America, and was recently featured on The View. Sonya is married and has two children, which in itself provides much of her material. She shares her life experiences in a slow deliberate manner that screams deadpan. Watch her on stage and you’ll come away knowing what it’s like to live life in the slow lane.
