Arianna Huffington
An impassioned, independent, and intrepid advocate for political reform and social awareness, Arianna Huffington has established herself as a distinctive and provocative figure in American politics.

Named one of Washington’s most influential commentators by both Newsweek and People, Huffington writes a syndicated column that appears in newspapers across the country, including the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Sun-Times, Boston Herald, and Dallas Morning News. She fearlessly – entertainingly – exposes the corruption of our political system and the bankruptcy of political leadership.

Her new book, Pigs at the Trough: How Corporate Greed & Political Corruption Are Undermining America, yanks back the curtain on the unholy alliance between CEOs, politicians, lobbyists, and Wall Street bankers who have shown a brutal disregard for the average American and undermined out nation’s core values.

A one-time Republican, Huffington now chooses to operate outside the two-party system. Her disillusionment with party politics stemmed from her realization that the parties were more interested in servicing the special interests of their well-heeled campaign contributors than serving the interests of the people they are elected to represent.

Voted the “Funniest Celebrity in Washington,” Huffington memorably slipped into her nightie to appear between the sheets with Al Franken for the “Strange Bedfellows” segments on Politically Incorrect. She is a frequent guest on many other television shows, including Nightline, Larry King Live, Crossfire, Oprah, and The Today Show. She also co-hosts Left, Right & Center, public radio’s popular political roundtable program.

Huffington has written nine books, including: The Fourth Instinct: The Call of the Soul, an exploration of ways to find meaning and spiritual fulfillment in our lives; the political satire Greetings from the Lincoln Bedroom; and How to Overthrow the Government, a call for Americans to rise up and take back control of the government.

She is also the author of the internationally best-selling biographies, Maria Callas: The Woman Behind the Legend and Picasso: Creator and Destroyer, which was made into a motion picture starring Anthony Hopkins.

Born in Greece, Huffington graduated from Cambridge University with a master’s degree in economics, and was president of the school’s famed debating society, the Cambridge Union. She currently serves on a number of boards that promote community solutions to social problems, including the Points of Light Foundation and A Place Called Home.
