Rick Springfield and Richard Marx to play acoustic show at WVU CAC Sept. 9

Rick Springfield and Richard Marx will perform at the WVU Creative Arts Center Sept. 9. Both artists will perform full acoustic sets. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 23, at 10 a.m. at the Mountainlair and CAC box offices, online at Ticketmaster.com, and by phone at 304-293-7469 and 800-745-3000.

Over the past three decades, Rick Springfield has worn many hats as an entertainer and performer. He has created some of the finest power-pop of the ‘80s: “Jessie’s Girl,” “An Affair of the Heart,” “Love Somebody,” and “Human Touch” – just to name a few. Springfield is a Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and musician who has sold 25 million albums and scored 17 Top 40 hits. He is also an accomplished actor who most recently starred opposite Meryl Streep in the feature film “Ricki and the Flash.” In 2014, Springfield was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Richard Marx, too, has a storied career as a performer, songwriter and producer that spans three decades. He has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, starting with his self-titled debut album that charted four Top 5 singles, including “Hold on to the Nights” and “Don’t Mean Nothing.” His string of iconic hits also includes “Right Here Waiting” and “Should’ve Known Better.” To this day, Marx is the only male artist in history to have his first seven singles reach the Top 5 on the Billboard charts. As a songwriter and producer, Marx has lent his talents to Josh Groban (“To Where You Are”) and NSYNC (“This I promise You”).

Both Springfield and Marx will perform full acoustic sets Sept. 9, in Morgantown. Tickets start at $43 for the general public and at $23 for WVU Students. Tickets go on sale June 23 at 10 a.m. at the Mountainlair and CAC box offices, online at ticketmaster.com, and by phone at 304-293-SHOW (7469) and 800-745-3000. WVU Student discounted tickets are limited to one per valid WVU Student ID or offer code.
