LEONARD BERNSTEIN (Music) - Leonard Bernstein, a world-renowned musician, was Music Director of the NY Philharmonic and conducted the world’s major orchestras, captured on more than 500 recordings. Compositions for Broadway include WONDERFUL TOWN, Candide and West Side Story. Other compositions include Serenade, Mass, Chichester Psalms, Slava!, Songfest, Divertimento for Orchestra, Missa Brevis, Arias and Barcarolles, Concerto for Orchestra; his three symphonies Jeremiah, The Age of Anxiety and Kaddish; his opera A Quiet Place; and with Jerome Robbins, the ballets Fancy Free, Facsimile and Dybbuk. His many honors include a Tony Award, the Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award, 11 Emmy Awards and the Kennedy Center Honors.
BETTY COMDEN & ADOLPH GREEN (Lyrics) - Betty Comden & Adolph Green in a partnership spanning nearly 60 years, received Tony Awards for their lyrics and/or librettos for Applause, WONDERFUL TOWN, Hallelujah Baby!, On The Twentieth Century and The Will Rogers Follies. Other Broadway credits: Peter Pan, Bells Are Ringing, Do Re Mi and Subways Are For Sleeping. They wrote the screenplays and/or lyrics for such motion pictures as Good News, On The Town, Singin’ in the Rain, It’s Always Fair Weather (Academy Award nomination) and Auntie Mame. They were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and received the Kennedy Center Honors Award in 1991. Mr. Green was married to the actress, Phyllis Newman.
JOSEPH FIELDS (Book) - Joseph Fields wrote or co-authored the stage hits My Sister Eileen, Junior Miss, Anniversary Waltz, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Tunnel Of Love, Flower Drum Song and Wonderful Town (the musical Version of My Sister Eileen). In 1951 he suggested to Rosalind Russell that she make her Broadway debut in WONDERFUL TOWN. The result was the hit show that first opened in 1953. He also wrote and/or produced numerous films, including the Marx Bros.’ Night in Casablanca and Annie Oakley.
JEROME CHODOROV (Book) - Jerome Chodorov wrote Junior Miss, Anniversary Waltz, The Ponder Heart, Tunnel of Love, The Girl In Pink Tights, A Talent for Murder, A Community Of Two, Three Bags Full, the revised book of The Great Waltz and My Sister Eileen, later the basis for the Tony-winning WONDERFUL TOWN. Movie credits include My Sister Eileen, Junior Miss, Happy Anniversary, Those Endearing Young Charms and Louisiana Purchase. He also directed plays in N.Y. and L.A. including Make a Million and The Gazebo.
