Mountaineer Week Planning

Mountaineer Week is a week of events, demonstrations, and more celebrating Appalachian heritage and culture. Mountaineer Week 2026 will occur November 9-15. The purpose of this position will be managing bookings for music, food, demonstrators, vendors, etc. and the execution of bookings during November 9-15. 2026.
Job Location: Mountainlair & Other Event Locations

Pay Rate: $14.00/hour

# Hours: Weekly hours will vary from 10-20 depending on event schedules. However, this position requires availability to assist with Mountaineer Week events during the week of November 9-15, 2026.

Job Requirements: The general expectations of your employment include the ability to research and execute an art and culture event intended for WVU students. This position requires the ability to create successful, impactful, and educational events with the student demographic in mind. You will be expected to brainstorm, research, communicate with vendors, and meet with a team on a regular basis. Must be familiar with aspects of Appalachian culture and local community including arts, organizations, businesses, etc. for partnerships. Must be organized, creative, able to communicate professionally by phone or email, and interested in arts and culture. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Research Appalachian and West Virginian arts and culture
  • Research and contact musicians, demonstrators, vendors, etc,
  • Schedule bookings for Mountaineer Week events
  • Act as a point of contact for vendors for logistics
  • Organize payment and contract documents
  • Assist with set-up, tear-down and execution of Mountaineer Week events.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
