The Spin Doctors funky, jam-heavy sound made them a huge success in the early 1990s. The band's neo-hippie groove and high energy performances made them a fan favorite. Lead singer Chris Barron treated the Morgantown audience to a "gymnastics show complete with one-handed cartwheels, backward flips and handsprings," according a review printed in the "Dominion Post."

The performance at the Coliseum marked the final show of band's "Turn it Upside Down" tour.  The antics and practical jokes Barron and his bandmates visited on their tour mates during their respective sets added a comic element to the four-hour performance. "The camaraderie between the bands was one of the best aspects of the show." noted Dominion Post staff writer Kathryn Shine.
