"Gospel rock queen Amy Grant, accompanied by her [then] guitarist husband Gary Chapman and Kenova native Michael W. Smith, held the audience at the Coliseum in the palms of their hands." This is how "Dominion Post" staff writer Evelyn Ryan described the relationship between Grant and the nearly 4,000 fans in the Coliseum on February 9, 1989. The small crown was attributed to competition from the annual WVU vs. Marshall (Smith's alma mater) basketball game and President Bush's first televised address to the nation.

Music ranged from soft ballad styles to a traditional rock beat, subtly getting the message of faith, love and Christianity across to the listeners.
