In February 2002, 8,600 fans poured into the Coliseum to see the original "Magicians of the Hard Court" take on the New York Nationals. Before the 3 p.m. tipoff, the team mascot Globie entertained the crowd with his rendition of The Worm, followed by a showcase of the team's ball handling skills in the theatrical Magic Circle.

"Sweet Lou" Dunbar, the squad's showman while in Morgantown, was the man in charge on the court. At the time, Dunbar was a 24-year veteran of the team. He is now the director of player personnel for the Globetrotters organization. In 2002, The Globetrotters were in their 75th season. The team was founded in 1926 in Chicago.

Burger King was a sponsor of the 2002 tour and handed out their signature crowns to all of the kids as they exited the arena after the game.
